Memorial day, a day to remember those who have passed.

My mother has been gone for over a year but I still remember the stories she told me
Mother hated war, her two cousins were killed in WWII. The remains were returned and  the coffins had a sign that it
was to be a closed casket ceremony.

Mom used to like Chuck Norris until he started portraying Walker, Texas Ranger. Talk to just about any Texan old
timer about the Texas Rangers and you will know about their brutality.

Caldwell County Texas where my mother grew up in was a dry county. Grandpa was a moon shiner specializing in
exotic wines. My uncle also made a very good brew that he bottled and sold underground.
One time an unhappy client made a disparaging  remark about Gramp's wine. In an instant Grandpa was pummeling
the complainer. The man had a friend that came up behind Grandpa and stabbed him in the back. The knife pierced
his lung and pretty much incapacitated him for life. That fight sentenced his family to a life of poverty. I remember
Mom saying one time they had nothing to eat but toasted corn.

One time the Texas Rangers paid them a visit. They knew Grandpa was making illegal hooch and they wanted to
bust him. Mother was not yet a teen when she witnessed the home invasion. No warrant and no manners, the
Rangers slapped Grandpa around as mom and her two sisters watched in horror. Gramps never gave up his stash
that was buried in an arroyo behind his house. That hooch was his livelihood until the county allowed liquor sales.

The sheriff of Caldwell county was also known for his savagery. Sheriff Boulda was a German who ruled with a
heavy hand.
Dad was a lad when he and his friends went to a huge cockfight. Sheriff Boulda showed up and some of the
spectators took off running. Damn if the sheriff didn’t start shooting at the fleeing suspects. The sheriff hauled off all
the adults leaving the kids to ransack the portable concession stand. Dad got sick off the soda pop and candy.

In another episode a man at a bar mistook another man’s beer for his own, drank it and the fight was on. Two
brothers were savagely stabbed in the fight by another group. The victims were rushed to the doctor’s office and the
Sheriff was summoned. Sheriff Boulda arrested the perpetrators. He pistol whipped the trio all the way to the Dr’s
office.
“Look at what you sons of bitches did” The sheriff demanded them to see.
As one of the assailants took a peek, the sheriff pistol whipped him again.
“What are you looking at?”
One of the brothers died and the assailants went to prison.

When one of the killers returned, he was met by  an angry acquaintance of the deceased who taunted him.
“You killed somebody over a stupid beer? Over 25 cents you took a man‘s life”
The killer just hung his head in embarrassment and walked home.

My father’s cousin got in a fight when somebody stepped on his Stacey Adams. Stacey Adam was the premier brand
of dress shoe. Cousin Sebastian pummeled the  clumsy guy. That started a chain of events that finally killed him.
The victim got a deer rifle and shot poor Sebastian as he was ordering a hamburger.  The bullet went through both
legs and he bled to death.
The killer was caught as he boarded a bus out of town.

Years after her death, mom grieved for her dead mother. Grandma died before I was born but I remember mom
always getting upset when she spoke about how her mother died.
The police notified my father that his mother in law was ill and she needed $75 dollars admittance fee to get into the
hospital. Mom and Dad wired the money and took off to see her.  Both the wired money and my parents showed up
at the same time.
The sight my mother beheld traumatized her forever. Her mother was on the hospital lawn, dying, feet away from the
hospital that could save her life. She was quickly admitted and placed in bed.
“I was almost a goner” she told mom. Those were her last words.
Mom felt her feet get really stiff and the stiffness went up her body.  She died because the $75 dollars showed up
too late.

When our loved ones are gone all we really have left are the memories. Let's make good memories now.
Would just love to post the other side of what went on at Jensen meat.

Times News reported a cop was attacked for no "reason" by the owner. I remember in Journalism 101 they told us to
get BOTH sides of the story.
Can't blame Times News though, if the cops ever choose to be uncooperative, it could spell disaster for that rag.
Will try to get to the truth.
Will post more soon, be sure to come back;

MEMORIAL DAY EDITION
It was a spur of the moment. Donations have gone south and it looks like they will stay there for awhile. But I felt I had
to act. Let me explain.

Listening to the idiot on KBAR radio, he said the following: If a pedophile attacks your child and you stop the attack,
you can be charged with a hate crime.
What he was talking about was hate crime legislation. The Reich wing is worried that the next time they wear their
white hoods and beat up a minority, they may face federal prosecution. Of course they  have to mask their true
intentions so they are promoting the LIE that such legislation may cause their pastors to be jailed for hate crime
speech. They are using the same tried and true hate tactics of Al Qaeda to control the weak minded, our religion is
under attack by the Infidels.

What  I am saying is that hate crimes are tantamount to premeditation. Everywhere Reich wingers are demanding
tougher laws/tougher punishment for criminals(go Arapaio) except for hate crimes. FREAKING WHY!!?? ULTERIOR
MOTIVES??

However, the legislation they are LYING about has the following: HR 1592 contains a "Rule of Construction" which
specifically provides that "Nothing in this Act...shall be construed to prohibit any expressive conduct protected from
legal prohibition by, or any activities protected by the free speech or free exercise clauses of, the First Amendment to
the Constitution."
What that means is FREEDOM of Religion is still freedom of religion and if your pastor says gays will burn in hell, the
Constitution will give him the protection some would deny others.

Any how, I got two ideas. A commemoration  of the police riot at the wedding where cops beat celebrants while
shouting racial slurs. Maybe we can have a memorial service, dance, dinner, pot luck? It is a thought. It could turn out
to be a yearly event.

I am more concerned with future violence. That same idiot hate jockey told an outrageous LIE that a student was
expelled from school for refusing to salute the Mexican flag at a flags of the world program. Now, you and I know this
quack is full of feces and like most LIARS he will continue to LIE as long as he does not have to answer for his lies.
But this day could have turned out very differently. A psychopathic, gullible listener called the hate jockey, madder
than hell, demanding to know what school it was so he could “confront” them.
The hate jock started backpedaling so fast he was stuttering.
“They’re not doing it anymore”
The would be rampager was adamant in his quest to find out which school needed confronting.
“I did not spend 20 years in the military so that some liberal teacher could force our kids to salute a foreign flag”
The hate jock relented, to a degree. “I’ll tell you which school  it was during commercial break”
I am sure he finally fessed up he was LYING off mike to prevent another Columbine. But his LIES continue and we are
all in peril.

So, taking what few funds we had left and getting a few donations, I have ordered these signs. They are vinyl banners
measuring 2X 4 ft. I already have the strategic locations picked out where they will be placed, I have an extra one that
needs a good high visibility home. My hope is that these signs reach out to those bent on violence, and to
commemorate the 168 killed in that tragedy.

Baylee Almon just turned one year old the day before her brutal murder.

Rest In Peace Baylee.
